This is an annual catalog of surplus native forest tree seedlings (not horticultural or landscape stock) available from various nurseries around the state. Available seedling data is collected from nurseries every fall. Copies are also available from your local ODF field office.
This publication is provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service, PNW Region, State & Private Cooperative Forestry.

Oregon's economy and environment benefit from trees. Approximately 10 million acres of Oregon's foresland is owned and managed by private landowners (industry and family owned). Trees provide a variety of jobs, wood products, fish and wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, protect watersheds, etc.

Are there legal requirements?
Yes. Oregon was the first state in the nation to have rules to ensure continuous harvest of timber on private lands while safeguarding soil, air, fish, and wildlife resources. The Oregon Forest Practices Act (FPA) regulates activities on forestland.
Key to Success!
The key to a successful planting project is preparation. The most common projects usually involve timber production, conversion (converting grass or brush to forest), wildlife, legacy planning, or a combination of these objectives. What is your objective? Is the site capable of meeting your expectations? Will your investment result in the desired outcome? Are there cost-sharing programs, grants or tax credits to help offset expenses?
Landowners needing help are encouraged to contact a qualified consulting forester or other professional forester for advice.
